Bògòlanfini or bogolan (Bambara: bɔgɔlanfini; “mud cloth”) is a handmade Malian cotton fabric. Mudcloth is made of strips of hand-loomed cotton cloths that are hand-stitched together. They are softened and dyed in small vats of organic botanicals that includes leaves, bark, and fermented river mud. Symbolic designs are often painted using sticks and stencils.

The imperfections of the weave, dye, stitch, and painted design are a natural characteristic, and serve to enhance the individual uniqueness and charm of each handmade tribal textile.

Caring for your pillow cover: spot clean, hand-wash with cold water, lay flat to dry.

Poufs and cushions are sold and shipped unstuffed. We believe that you can fill the Poufs and cushions easily yourself and this in an ‘ecological’ way with for example old clothes, a blanket or other unused textiles. If you still want to have it filled, send us a message and we will fill it for you.

This is a handmade item, sometimes vintage condition and contains characteristic irregularities. Variation and imperfection in weave, fiber size, color and overall size are normal characteristics. We aim to describe and show as accurately as possible the condition of each piece. Please note all vintage items had a previous life and so may have slight wear and repairs.
